The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center relocated to a new facility, with
exhibition galleries, a performing arts center and a public library. Working with the project
architect, the museum, and the City of Austin, Wondercabinet designed three inaugural
exhibitions that celebrate the history and accomplishments of African Americans in Texas,
and across the nation.
An exhibition on Austin's African American families tells engaging, generational stories
about their contributions to the city, and encourages visitors to explore their own
family histories. A celebratory exhibition of Juneteenth, an emancipation holiday
which originated in Texas, features multimedia exhibits of Juneteenth commemorations.
In the Let's Pretend childrenšs gallery, an exhibition on African American inventors
and scientists, highlighting their childhood interests and adult accomplishments,
inspires visitors to create, discover, and to imagine themselves as future innovators.

project architect for the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center had to say about
working with Wondercabinet.
