Wondercabinet developed a Master Plan that would establish an overall exhibition standard
to guide the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in its process of reorganizing and
revitalizing its exhibits and in its installation of future exhibits.
The challenge was to create a unifying interpretive strategy as well as new design standards
for casework, displays, and graphics which will work in harmony with the museum's unique
architecture and maintain the museum's eclectic Victorian-style nature. Wondercabinet
also proposed self-guided thematic tours of the Museum's diverse collections, called
Expeditions, which have evolved into a comprehensive interpretive strategy.
The Museum invited Wondercabinet back for a second scope of work to create a more detailed
interpretive plan for existing and new exhibit galleries, and to provide architectural
consulting to their LEED building addition project.
